The Provincial Chapter of the British Province was held on 20-24 September 2021 at Aylesford Priory.

It was a successful week of discussions, prayer and planning with friars and lay collaborators together, facilitated by Mr Danny Curtin. The Province were joined at the Chapter by the Prior General, Fr. Míċéal O'Neill, O.Carm and by the General Councillor for Europe, Fr. Richard Byrne, O.Carm

On the Feast of Saint Matthew, the Apostle, a new plaque for deceased Carmelites was blessed by the Prior General, Fr. Míċéal O'Neill, O.Carm.

At the end of the Chapter, Fr. Brendan Grady, O.Carm was elected prior provincial by his brothers. To fill the vacancy thereby left on the provincial council, Fr. Gerard Walsh, O.Carm was canonically elected as Fourth Provincial Councillor. The new Provincial Council are pictured below.

Thank you to the Prior of Aylesford, Fr. Francis Kemsley, O.Carm and the Community for hosting everyone so well, and to the Aylesford team for looking after each guest. Particular thanks too to the Preparatory Commission for organising the Chapter and its timetable.
