The Carmelites across the Province are praying for the people of Ukraine...

Situation of Our Carmelites in Ukraine:

As you are aware, the situation in Ukraine has become extremely difficult with the conflict with Russia breaking out into warfare. The Curia in Rome has been in contact with the Prior Provincial of Poland as that province has two communities in  Ukraine. The Provincial wrote back last night:

Dear Carmelites, Thank you for your concern and prayer for our Brothers in Sąsiadowicze and Włodzimierz Wołyński. I have just talked to them and the situation seems very serious— people in the streets are panicked, there are food shortages in the shops. The Bishop calls for taking in the needy in Sąsiadowicze and sharing cellars as shelters, which we are prepared for. I told the Brothers that they can come back to Poland at any moment but they do not want to leave the people entrusted to them. At this moment our Brothers are safe and sound but the situation is developing all the time. Asking the whole Carmelite Order to pray for our Brothers and the Ukrainian people, Wiesław Prior Provincial We will forward any change in the situation. We know that the Order will want to keep our brothers in the Ukraine as well as the people they serve and the people of both the Ukraine and Russia in prayer. May the hearts and minds of all turn towards peace.
