8th Centenary of
the Carmelite Rule

Justice and Peace Forum
On 5th May 2007 the
some 800 members of the Carmelite Family in Britain gathered in
York Minster to celebrate the Eucharist with His
Beatitude Michel Sabbah, Latin Patriarch of Jesusalem in commemoration
of the 8th Centenary of the giving of the Carmelite Rule by St.
Albert the then Latin Patriarch.
In the afternoon following the Eucharist the Patriarch spoke at a Justice and Peace Forum at York Saint John University which focussed on the situation of the Christian communities in the Middle East. This was organised jointly by the Carmelites, Pax Christi (UK) and the Middlesbrough Diocese Justice and Peace Network.
