York Carmelite Spirituality Group

All are welcome! York Carmelite Spirituality Group (CSG) offers an experience of 'Carmel' to anyone seeking an experience of God in the Carmelite tradition, whatever their Christian denomination or way of life.

York CSG relaunch on 11th November 2017 - newsletter and poster

Bishop Terence Drainey of Middlesbrough with York CSG in October 2009.
We bring together different vocations within the Carmelite Family - professed Carmelite tertiaries, friars, active sisters, enclosed nuns - and those who are inspired or intrigued by Carmel but who have not made a formal profession of religious promises. The majority of our members are lay (unordained) people seeking to draw wisdom from the deep well that is Carmelite spirituality.

Carmelite Street bears testimony to the Carmelite Family's
presence in York since 1250.

Our community was founded in 2006. In 2009 we helped to launch a sister group in Leeds and in Manchester in 2011. We have close links with other Carmelite Spirituality Groups and Third Order Chapters in Britain, and come under the oversight of the Provincial Delegate for the Carmelite Third Order.

We have a very varied and engaging programme of events.

We normally meet on the second Saturday of the month, excepting January and August.

One of our community meetings at 110 Lawrence Street.

York CSG brings together the Carmelite Family of friars, sisters and laity.
