A new book published by the Carmelite Friars at The National Shrine of Saint Jude in Faversham, Kent, offers spiritual support during this time of pandemic.
God in the Time of Covid-19 is offered by the Order as a way of nurturing the interior life, as well as maintaining a spiritual connection between members of the Carmelite Family and friends of Saint Jude. This is particularly important when the Shrine, like many churches across Britain, is closed to visitors for reasons of safety.
The reflections in the book were originally published online, and have been printed to make the wisdom they offer available to those without internet access, as well to serve as a reminder in future years of the spiritual challenges and opportunities that the coronavirus presented us with.
The reflections are written in a wide range of styles to suit the broadest range of readers and tastes. Contributors include Carmelite friars of the British Province: Fr. Kevin Alban, O.Carm.; Fr. Brendan Grady, O.Carm.; Bro. Richard Green, O.Carm.; Bro. Paul de Groot, O.Carm.; Fr. Francis Kemsley, O.Carm.; and Fr. Gerard Walsh, O.Carm. Other contributors include the eminent Bible scholar Fr. Nicholas King, S.J., Fr. John Warrington of East Anglia Diocese, and Rev. Deacon Hugh Parry of Portsmouth Diocese. The articles have been edited and brought together by Matthew Betts, Development Manager at The National Shrine of Saint Jude.
Each copy sold supports the ministries of the Carmelite Friars in Britain and worldwide, whose presence is needed more than ever during this pandemic.
