Death of former Prior General Fr. Falco Thuis, O.Carm.

A former Prior General of the Carmelite Order, Fr. Falco Thuis, O.Carm., died on 4th January 2020 in Boxmeer, The Netherlands.

Falco was born on 5th March 1932 in Gaanderen, The Netherlands. At the end of his novitiate in the Dutch Province of Carmelites he made his simple profession of vows as a Carmelite friar on 15th September 1952. He made his solemn profession on 15th September 1955. He was ordained a priest on 6th July 1958.

At the General Chapter (international meeting) of the Order in 1971, Fr. Falco was elected Prior General of the Order, and was re-elected to this office in 1977.

At the end of his time as Prior General, Fr. Falco returned to The Netherlands where he served as Prior Provincial of the Dutch Province from 1991 to 1996.

The Carmelite Family will remember Fr. Falco for the way he helped us to know and appreciate that we are brothers and sisters in Carmel. We remember him with great affection and gratitude, and pray for his eternal repose. May he rest in peace, and rise in glory.
