Carmelite Friar Appointed Diocesan Ecumenical Officer

Tuesday, 5 December 2017

Carmelite friar Fr. Patrick Fitzgerald-Lombard, O.Carm., has been appointed Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of Menevia in Wales. He will also be representing the Diocese at national level.

Typically, Catholic Diocesan Ecumenical Officers promote unity and dialogue in Christ's Church, particularly through developing closer fellowships with other Christian traditions, supporting local ecumenical bodies, and providing information to parishes and deaneries on ecumenical matters.

Father Patrick is priest at St. Joseph's Church in Hay-on-Wye, having previously served in other parishes within Menevia Diocese.

Announcing the appointment to the British Province of Carmelites, Prior Provincial Fr. Kevin Alban, O.Carm., congratulated his brother in Carmel, noting "Patrick has been committed to ecumenism for many years, so this is a significant recognition of his work."
