British Province of Carmelites elects Prior Provincial and Council

Friday, 21 February 2020

Each province (region) of the Carmelite Order holds a provincial chapter every three years to elect friars to positions of servant-leadership, and to reflect on issues pertaining to the Order.

The British Province of Carmelites holds its chapter in two stages. The first stage, the electoral assembly, was held at Aylesford Priory between 17th and 21st February, and was facilitated by Fr. John (Jack) Welch, O.Carm., of the American Carmelite Province of The Most Pure Heart of Mary.

The following brothers were elected:

  • Prior Provincial: Kevin Alban
  • First Councillor: Brendan Grady
  • Second Councillor: Michael Cox
  • Third Councillor: Kevin Melody
  • Fourth Councillor: Patrick O'Keeffe

These brothers will be confirmed in office by the Prior General during the second stage of the Provincial Chapter which will be held in Hertfordshire in April.

Please keep our elected brothers in your prayers.
