The British Province of Carmelite Friars
Assisted
Pilgrims
Early in the life of the Shrine at Lourdes pilgrims came in search of healing be it physical, mental or spiritual. Our sick and handicapped pilgrims of all ages are at the very heart of the Catholic Association Pilgrimage.
We are able to offer care to meet the individual needs of our assisted pilgrims.
Most assisted pilgrims stay very happily in one of the many hotels in Lourdes. Our young helpers provide help with mobility (wheelchair pushing) and nurses and doctors make visits as necessary.
Other pilgrims need a greater level of care and stay in the Accueil Notre-Dame close to the Grotto. Full medical support and general assistance is available here 24 hours a day.
Depending on your needs there are two different booking forms available below:
Assisted (sick) pilgrims requiring limited medical care and wishing to stay in a hotel should fill in one of the general booking forms for travel by air or travel by train and send it to Tangney Tours. (Please ensure that you have first read the covering letter from the Carmelite Pilgrimage Director).
Assisted pilgrims requiring more dedicated medical attention should register to stay in the Accueil Notre-Dame (hotel/hostel within the Sanctuary) by completing the Medical Form (not the Tangneys form) and sending it by 15th July to the pilgrimage doctor:
Dr. Trevor Fernandes
The Paddock
Hudnall Lane
Little Gaddesden
Herts HP4 1QE
Once accepted by Dr. Fernandes, Accueil residents will receive an additional booking form.
