In April this year a major Christian conference on the challenge of climate change was held in York.
As
previously reported on this website, "Mission Earth" was a stimulating and informative event that comprised worship in York Minster and workshops at York St John University. Members of the Carmelite Family, inspired by the Order's commitment to
justice, peace, and the integrity of Creation, were among the hundreds of participants.

Bishop Terry Drainey of Middlesbrough Diocese at the Mission Earth service
in York Minster with the Corpus Christi Carmelite Sisters,
as well as staff and volunteers of CAFOD.
Some months later a report on "Mission Earth" has been compiled by the organisers, giving participants' feedback on the event and the
Christian Census on Climate Change that preceded it. To read the report (in PDF format) please

The document shows that most of the feedback was very positive. Distributing the report,
Emma Casson, the
Administrator of
The Christian Census on Climate Change, said: "We received good
advice from delegates and workshop leaders on ways in which we can move
forward, which is outlined in the document. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with comments or if
you would like to be involved in our next event."
Transcripts of
talks from the event, given by leading figures in the area of climate change, can be found on the
group's website.
