Thanks to the groundbreaking work of Richard Copsey, O.Carm. we are now able to publish the chronologies of three of our medieval houses at Northallerton, Norwich and York. More will follow in the coming months. We are also happy to make available a paper by Dr. Valerie Edden of Birmingham University (UK) entitled The Mantle of Elijah: Carmelite Spirituality in Britain in the Fourteenth Century and an article by Wilfrid McGreal, O.Carm. on the Carmelite Presence in England 1685-1740. Another piece in the jigsaw is added by Kevin Alban, O.Carm with his work George Rayner - an Elizabethan Carmelite.
We are glad to have the opportunity
to publish on our site the M.Phil. dissertation completed at Oxford
by Johan Bergstrom-Allen (Lay Carmelite) and entitled 'Heremitem
et Ordinis Carmelitarum': A Study of the Vernacular Theological
Literature Produced by Medieval English Whitefriars, Particularly
Richard Misyn, O.Carm. By the same author we are pleased to
publish 'For Edificacyon of Many Saules': The Production of
Carmelite Vernacular Writings in Late Medieval England. -
a lecture delivered in the department of English at Fribourg University
in June 2004.
